Hi!
Eli was born and raised in Upstate New York. After attending Ithaca College’s Park School, with a focus on cinematography, he began his career shooting short documentary projects in Los Angeles. His early years were spent loading film and pulling focus on a variety of commercial, music video and narrative projects where he gained a strong technical background and built a naturalistic visual style.
His recent documentary credits include work on a feature film with Jennifer Lopez, profiles on incarcerated and formerly incarcerated individuals for John Legend’s Free America campaign, and contributions to the film Making Time, directed by Liz Unna.
Eli’s collaboration with director Georgia Tribuiani began when they teamed up on her short film, At Work. Using clever visuals and lighting gags, the short film went on to be exhibited at the Berlin Fashion Film Festival and Fashion Film Festival Milano. Georgia’s more recent experimental short, Things Must Separate, explored balanced framing with inherent visual tension and garnered a Vimeo Staff Pick and screenings at the Hammer Museum and Nowness.
In 2018 Eli joined the International Cinematographers Guild, contributing to John Legend’s Christmas Special, A Legendary Christmas, and continues to lens a variety of narrative, commercial and independent projects. In addition to his technical skills, Eli enjoys the collaborative process working seamlessly with all departments. In his spare time you can find him camping, eating bagels, and working on a cat calendar.
